A MIND WITH A VIEW: COGNITIVE SCIENCE, NEUROSCIENCE AND CONTEMPORARY LITERATURE

Slimak, Louis Jason

Abstract Details

2007, Master of Arts, University of Akron, English-Literature.
In my thesis, I examine the pragmatic application of neuroscientific theories and principles from cognitive science with literary works. By reviewing Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and Ian McEwan's Saturday, the discourse between the humanities and the sciences will be fostered, and demonstrate the mutual illumination gained through the discourse.
