Cebula, Sharon

Abstract Details

2014, Master of Fine Arts, University of Akron, Creative Writing.
A septuagenarian from Burma confronts racial tensions in a North Hill neighborhood; a refugee from Bhutan finds gratification in helping resettle other refugees; a Mexican green card holder organizes rallies for women's health issues: these are just a few of the people Sharon Cebula meets on a journey of discovery in her own hometown. Along the way, she learns about the immigration process and deepens her own sense of patriotism through the stories of her neighbors.
