The objective of this research was to develop a three-dimensional digital image correlation technique to find the full field strains in Divinycell H100 foam. A pressure vessel experiment was developed to determine the triaxial, elastic-plastic and hysteresis behavior of Divinycell H100 foam. The tests were conducted under various peak values of pressures and deformation of the specimens. To record the data from the triaxial experiments, three-dimensional digital image correlation technique was required because two-dimensional digital image correlation could not detect the deformations in the thickness direction. A method to perform three-dimensional digital image correlation to acquire the full field strains was presented. Using the three-dimensional digital image correlation technique, the triaxial stress-strain curves for the experiments was acquired. However, there are limitations to the DIC process. The strain data acquired showed scatter for the strains occurring on the order of 10-3 and less, because the noise-to-signal ratio was high in small strain region. Strains larger than 10-3 were not affected due to noise.
