Abstract
In Ohio
is a novel focused around the notion of life quietly repeating itself. Roughly half the stories follow joint protagonists, Raymond and Jules Eliot, and their struggles to break this spell. The other stories expand the scope of inquiry, focusing on the town of Severn and its history – a black hole of advancement. In this way, the novel covers the span of 150 years in order to depict the complexities of its long lineage of residents stuck in the orbit of repetition.
