Surbella, Kevin

Abstract Details

2007, MA, Kent State University, College of Arts and Sciences / Department of Geography.
This thesis focuses on the creation of an accessibility map of Kent State University (KSU) from the perception of students who use wheelchairs. The fabric of this map entails both a physical and social perception of space on campus, of which has been displayed utilizing the internet based Geographic Information System (GIS) software called ArcIMS 9.0. To draw attention to the convolute association between people and place, this project will use both a Participatory Action Research (PAR), and participant narratives as methods. Thus this map highlights both inclusive and exclusive sociospatial perceptions of campus.
