Abstract Details

2013, MFA, Kent State University, College of Arts and Sciences / Department of English.
Home Fires: Essays on roots, restlessness, and renewal, is a collection of nonfiction essays exploring the meaning of home and my search for a sense of place, spanning the course of three decades, six different states, countless moves and various forms of upheaval and life change. It is a collection about family roots, what it means to leave home in a culture where people usually stay, how we connect as human beings to various settings and places given the point we’re at in our lives, and what it means to shape one’s own true path. It’s a coming of age tale, a geographical memoir, and a deep exploration of what home truly means. ¿
