MEASURING CONVEXITY OF A SET

Almuraysil, Norah Abdullatif

Abstract Details

2017, MS, Kent State University, College of Arts and Sciences / Department of Mathematical Sciences.
This thesis is dedicated to a study of the interrelationships between different measurements of non-convexity of a given compact set. Many of such measurements depend on the Euclidean structure of the space, our goal is to present a generalization of a few know results from the case of the Euclidean distance to the maximum distance and to more general settings. We will first study the relation between the Hausdorff distance, inradius, and the radius of the circumscribed ball. After that, we will use those results in a couple of theorems that produce relations between non-convexity measurement using cube and compact set M instead of the Euclidean ball
