Cruise/Control for Wind Ensemble and Fixed Electronic Media

Grove, Benjamin J

Abstract Details

2018, MA, Kent State University, College of the Arts / School of Music, Hugh A. Glauser.
"Cruise/Control for Wind Ensemble and Fixed Electronic Media" aims to explore several musical concepts. First, a juxtaposition between the concepts of "cruise" and "control" represented by rhythmic vamps that are interrupted, and a juxtaposition of chords and ideas that are a tritone apart from one another. Second, using wedge progressions in fixed electronic media tracks that provide the structural fabric of the piece. These wedge progressions are constructed using a unique musical language created by a "web" of interconnected wedge progressions.
