Our growth and development depends on how much we react to and process the experiences we encounter in life. Some are pleasant experiences and some are not. Either way, the experiences affect us and in essence, build the backbones of who we are. My thesis sculpture illustrates the ever growing growth and development of an individual through life experiences and how nature, no matter how little, always has a connection to who we are and where we are going. The sculpture also invites the viewer to reflect on their own memorable experiences of how they grew to become who they are as individuals, both through their successes and failures. Additionally, there is the illustration of those memories as well as the memories that have not yet been forged. The purpose of this sculpture is not only to illustrate that the experiences we have had have lead to our growth, but to encourage the viewer to choose experiences that will potentially help them to grow positively in the future.
