ALL THINGS, EVERYTHING, BEFORE I GO

Abstract Details

2018, MFA, Kent State University, College of the Arts / School of Art.
The exhibition “All Things, Everything, Before I Go” is in two adjacent galleries to depict the road taken and the road not taken in a women’s life and the outcome of her choices. Using video, plaster and traditional women’s crafts techniques such as latch hook and hand sewing I will compose a dialog between both spaces that evokes in the viewer sentimental emotions of “The One that Got Away” and the path taken to marriage and motherhood. There is a societal disregard and embarrassment towards a women’s vulnerable display of dissatisfaction or denial within her domestic life. This work will in part glorify the dramatics of a women’s real disparage within her marriage and home, and will embody the idealization of the other path she could have taken.
