The Effect of Risky Behavior Perceptions on Social Greek and Honors Student Stereotyping

Wishing to explore the origins of the novel stereotypes associated with social Greek and Honors College affiliated students at Kent State University, this thesis explores how participation in risky behaviors as well as perceived participation in risky behaviors impacts group stereotypes. The findings of a qualitative survey prove somewhat inconclusive, but point to actual engagement in risky activities to be the main proponent of novel stereotypes about each group. There are some major limitations to the research tool that was employed in the study, but with some work, this information is incredibly valuable to both student group leaders and student affairs professionals alike.
