Abstract
An extended prose fiction concerning the lives of various characters in and around a fictional Kent, OH; the struggles each of them experience in the business of living, and maybe a study of the forces that have pushed, crushed, or frightened them away from doing Good Things. Also by extension a kind of catalog of negative attitudes and bleak feelings, but meant to be possibly in a bracing sort of way uplifting.
