Abstract Details

2013, BFA, Kent State University, College of the Arts / School of Art.
The inspiration for my B.F.A. exhibition and Honors Thesis paper stemmed from an artwork that I saw in New York City while on a travel study trip. An artist had placed a blanket on the floor and built a guard around the blanket, this guard reminded me of a miniature fence. I found this so intriguing that something typically comfortable, warm, and welcoming would be guarded, or separated from others. I then began to think that possibly the guard was meant to protect and preserve the blanket. These initial thoughts guided my ideas of combining comfort, personality, and security.
