Feudalism in Decline: The Influence of Technology on Society

Comshaw-Arnold, Benjamin W.

Abstract Details

2014, BA, Kent State University, College of Arts and Sciences / Department of History.
In this essay, I argue that the ultimate decline of the (complicated) system of medieval feudalism was due to technological advancements and social changes. This thesis gives separate sections to particular aspects of technological and social developments that caused the decline of feudalism in medieval Europe. Following a simple style of chapter-by-chapter analysis, this study shows how technology, the plague, and relations of the laity with the Church of Rome affected the decline of the delicate structure of feudal society.
