THE PASSION OF CHRIST AND THE ANTI-VIETNAM WAR MOVEMENT AT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY: AN APPLICATION OF BURKES GUILT-REDEMPTION CYCLE

Abstract Details

2016, BA, Kent State University, College of Communication and Information / School of Communication Studies.
An application of Kenneth Burke’s Guilt-Redemption Cycle is used to construct an argument for an analogy between the Passion of Christ and the Anti-Vietnam War Movement, specifically at Kent State University. Burke’s Dramatistic pentad and specific cultural artifacts are also discussed to further this analogy. The study focuses on rhetorical acts and the progression of social movements while taking into consideration each movement’s respective period in history.
