The Evolving Role of the Editor in the Age of Digital Publishing

Abstract Details

2017, BA, Kent State University, College of Arts and Sciences / Department of English.
This research looks at the world of digital publishing and seeks to understand the evolving role of the freelance editor in relation to it. Seven independent fiction authors and four editors were interviewed on the relationship between authors and editors in digital publishing. Although it is not representative, findings from the research and interviews show that editors still retain a significant role in all publishing models, even self-publishing. Despite the small sample size, the results of the study are imperative to understanding the evolving role of editors in the age of digital publishing.
