Perspectives of Priorities for Supporting College Students on the Autism Spectrum

Abstract Details

2018, BS, Kent State University, College of Education, Health and Human Services / School of Health Sciences.
Increases in university enrollment among students on the autism spectrum necessitate research on the support needs of these students, particularly those supports that go beyond academia and into social and organizational needs. In this study, one-on-one interviews delved into various perspectives on support needs and on the college experience for students on the spectrum. Conclusions support prior literature by citing a need for supports that go beyond the classroom and suggest areas for future research surrounding neurodiversity and perspectives regarding the support needs of people on the autism spectrum.
