Drunk the Milk

Kari, Jacqueline E.

Abstract Details

2010, Master of Arts, Miami University, English: Creative Writing.
Drunk the Milk utilizes procedural poetics in an attempt to de-center the voice of the lyric speaker. “The Bloody Show, or Numbers Poems” experiments with dictation to explore the intimate connection between the role of the speaker and its origins in the mystical; “Arcade Poems” employs a series of constraints to allow multiple voices to create the poems’ worlds; and the poems from “Day Poem, 21 June 2010” comprise daily writing addressing the practice of automatic writing, the validity of the quotidian/self as subject, and the artifice of the poem itself.
