TWO-PHOTON DOUBLE RESONANCE SPECTROSCOPY IN IODINE MOLECULES

Qassadi, AMAL MOHAMMED

Abstract Details

2015, Master of Science, Miami University, Physics.
This thesis consists of two parts. The first part is focused on the one-photon X(v''= 0) ¿ B(v'= 32) and two-photon X(v''= 0) ¿ B(v'= 32) ¿ E(v = 3). Spectroscopy of the iodine molecules using medium and high resolution spectrometers. We have also showed the results of our calculations on Morse potential curves, Franck-Condon factors, Einstein A coefficients, the distribution of rotational levels and lifetime of the E electronic state. The second part focuses on the lifetime measurement. Using a double-resonance two-step pulsed laser excitation the E(v = 3) electronic state was populated, and the lifetime was determined by direct observation of the fluorescence. This work is supported by the National Science Foundation through award NSF-PHY-1068159.
