Fusion of Sensing and Backscatter Communications via OFDM

Giza, Patryk J, Giza

Abstract Details

2016, Master of Science, Miami University, Computational Science and Engineering.
The thesis proposes the use of orthogonal frequency divisional multiplexing as a method for radar-communication joint-signal fusion, specifically for backscatter and LPI/LPD communications. Backscatter OFDM communications was explored through the development of a model. The model is supported through SDRS experiments that illustrate feasibility. An LPI/LPD communication approach is devised through the modification of subcarrier amplitudes to lower chances of detection and interception. Interception of the proposed method is explored via MATLAB simulations. The parameters of the method were also explored to maximize the difference of enemy and friendly bit reception.
