A REVIEW OF OUT-OF-SCHOOL PROGRAMS FOR GIFTED STUDENTS

Abstract Details

2018, Specialist in Education, Miami University, School Psychology.
Educating all learners, including specific subgroup populations, has been at the forefront of school, state, and federal initiatives. Gifted education is one of those populations that required more attention in both academic areas and social emotional areas. This meta-analysis analyzed 17 studies to determine the effectiveness of out-of-school programs for gifted students on their academic social perceptions and overall social perceptions. Results yielded low effect sizes overall, with two programs yielding large individual effect sizes. Further research needs to be done to gather more information on out-of-school gifted programs overall and to improve the quality of the programs to improve the effectiveness on gifted students academic social perceptions and overall social perceptions
