EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF MULTI-PURPOSE UWB RF SYSTEM FOR AD-HOC RADAR SENSOR NETWORK APPLICATIONS

Abstract Details

2018, Master of Science, Miami University, Computational Science and Engineering.
This thesis presents a theoretical analysis and experimental results of an ad-hoc radar sensor network using a multi-purpose Ultra Wide Band-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (UWB-OFDM) RF system. In this network, a Radar/Communication (RadCom) system is tasked with simultaneous sensing and communicating between two platforms. The ¿rst platform is in transmit/receive mode and is tasked with data collection and opportunistic covert data communication to any friendly platform appearing in the same scene. The second platform is in receive-only mode and tasked with establishing a communication link with the ¿rst platform using direct line-of-sight communication as well as indirect line-ofsight communication (back scatter), from the scene, to capture RF signals. Simulations and experiments are presented to analyze the performance of both systems.
