PRELIMINARY OBSERVATION OF VIBRATIONAL RESONANCES AND PROPAGATION MODES IN COLD ATOM DISSIPATIVE 3D OPTICAL LATTICES

This thesis presents preliminary observations of Zeeman light-shifts, intra-well oscillation modes and inter-well propagation modes in the transmission spectrum of a weak beam probing a dissipative tetrahedral optical lattice. Measurements are performed for orthogonal probe polarizations and incident directions. The propagation modes are shown to be probe-induced while the vibrational modes are, as expected, dependent only on lattice geometry. Explanations based on a Fg = 1/2 to Fe = 3/2 model atom are presented.
