Classification of Research and Applications in Feature Modeling and Computer Aided Process Planning

Abstract Details

2004, Master of Science (MS), Ohio University, Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (Engineering).

This thesis intends to review the state-of-art in Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) research areas and to review some of the CAPP systems in general terms, developed by academia. Taking into consideration the appearance of different review papers, this thesis intends to review the research primarily from 1995, with relevant references to work prior to 1995. For this classification, statistics will be collected to identify the dominant approaches. In addition, various CAPP systems will be classified based on their characteristics, and representative systems are selected to explain a classification. For identified systems and corresponding research papers, citation statistics will be collected to provide another measure of dominant approaches.
