Interfacing and computer control of a plasticating extruder

Imana, Ramiro Galleguillos

Abstract Details

1984, Master of Science (MS), Ohio University, Chemical Engineering (Engineering).

A classical control technique is applied to operate a laboratory extruder. In particular the relationship of screw speed to die pressure and temperature is studied. A P.I.D. algorithm is utilized with this purpose. A minicomputer together with an interface bus handle the storage and retrieval of data between the extruder and the computer. Significant control problems arise from noise and during transient changes at high pressures.
