Abstract Details

2013, Doctor of Education (EdD), Ohio University, Educational Administration (Education).
To date, perceptual congruence (PC) between principals and superintendents is lacking exploration in detail in the field of educational leadership. To address this gap, the intent of this proposed study is to develop a valid instrument that can measure PC and thus offer insights for policy development and future research. The extant literature emphasizes each role separately as playing an integral part in student success as an instructional leader but nothing on how these two roles interact and influence achievement levels and school effectiveness (cf. Chan, 2001 & Cudeiro, 2005). Within this study I theorized that specific leadership and personality traits coalesce within these paired groups that positively or adversarial impact student achievement and overall school effectiveness.
