Exploring Politicians’ Archetypes: A Deep Dive into the 2020 Democratic and Republican Presidential Candidates

Abstract Details

2021, Master of Science (MS), Ohio University, Journalism (Communication).
This thesis examines politicians’ archetypes by looking at a few of the 2020 presidential candidates. A survey was conducted in which students and Facebook users (N= 204) answered questions about eight politicians and were asked questions about character in order to determine the archetypes they resonate with most. Results show political parties play a major role in the archetypes chosen as opposed to the media consumption itself. The results also reveal women in the survey were also more likely to be categorized in the same archetypes as opposed to their male counterparts.
