As one of American contemporary music’s most versatile composers, John Musto (b. 1954) draws on his jazz background as well as his training as a concert pianist to write music that is technically virtuosic while remaining appealing to audiences. His compositions range from concert piano rags, to piano concertos, operas and songs. The following document includes a biography of Mr. Musto, a summary of his musical style and influences, and a detailed analysis of his song sets Shadow of the Blues and Recuerdo.
