Characterization of The Arabidopsis Nuclear Import Factor of Ran and Functional Analysis of Nuclear Envelope Associate Protein Wit

Abstract Details

2008, Doctor of Philosophy, Ohio State University, Plant Cellular and Molecular Biology.
In eukaryotic cells, Ran cycle is vital for macromolecular trafficking between the nucleus and the cytoplasm by providing spatial information on the directionality. While the protein composition of the Ran cycle has been studied in detail in yeast and mammalian cells, present knowledge of the components of the plant Ran cycle is still at early stage. Recent studies have implicated that over- and underepression of the known components of the plant Ran cycle reveals surprising connections to some plant regulatory pathways. This highlights a true need to thoroughly understand the components of the plant Ran cycle. Here I have identified and characterized three proteins involved in Ran cycle.
