Situating Sound

Penrose, Joshua Adam

Abstract Details

2010, Master of Fine Arts, Ohio State University, Art.
This work explores a making practice that builds and expands on complex systems. This practice is sound based, engaging questions of form and context. The works explored involve writing custom software in Max/MSP/Jitter, but also are inserted into a variety of forms such as municipal outdoor warning systems, vacant buildings, the microscopic world of yeast, as well as macroscopic spaces such as the internet and the earth’s ionosphere.
