Smelling the roses: time and the unity of opposites

Jovanovic, Vesna

Abstract Details

2005, Master of Fine Arts, Ohio State University, Art.

My involvement in science as well as various personal experiences have inspired an interest in impermanence, imperfection and the merging of dualities. In order to explore these concepts I choose to employ photography (a medium that is commonly believed to deliver images of reality) yet I use a homemade pinhole camera that is imperfect and relatively unpredictable. Working both intuitively and rationally, I concentrate more on the creative process itself rather than the outcome. I create images that display a silent, meditative confrontation with time and the contingencies of life.
