Harmonic Resonance Dynamics of the Periodically Forced Hopf Oscillator

Wiser, Justin Allen

Abstract Details

2013, Doctor of Philosophy, Ohio State University, Mathematics.
We classify the existence and stability of dynamical responses to the small amplitude periodic forcing of a system near a Hopf bifurcation point, where the forcing frequency, omega_F , is close to the Hopf frequency, omega_H. We consider this as a bifurcation problem with omega_H - omega_F as the distinguished parameter. We go on to discuss applications of this research to a variety of physical and physiological systems.
