Validating relationships between Performance Shaping Factors within a Science-Based HRA validation framework

This thesis discusses the development of a nuclear power plant simulator facility at the Ohio State University. Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) is the focus of the research study. A nuclear power plant operation class was introduced and a set of experiments in the simulator were conducted. The development of the course and the experiment will be discussed in the thesis as well. The key contribution of this thesis is the method developed to validate the HRA IDAC model. IDAC (Information-Decision- Action - Crew) model predicts the operators’ accident response in a nuclear power plant control room. Preliminary comparisons between the proposed model and the IDAC model and evaluations have been initiated, with the suggestions for improvements for the next round of HRA validation experiments.
