Five chapters make up this dissertation. The first chapter is an introduction to peer-mediated repeated reading as well as self-monitoring. The first chapter also contains a rationale of the rest of the chapters within this dissertation. The next three chapters can serve as standalone papers. Chapter two is a literature review on peer-mediated repeated reading. Chapter three is a completed manuscript which contains the study completed for this dissertation. Chapter four is a practitioner paper pertaining to strategies school teams can use to avoid the retention of students who may not have met grade level requirements. Lastly, chapter five addresses the limitations within chapter three as well as future career and research aspirations.
