Annual climactic variability through the worsening of extreme weather is linked to climate change and is further intensifying the regional challenges faced by small island developing states. This underscores the importance of fostering system-wide innovation capacity, specifically in the regions small-holder agricultural systems. Furthermore, innovations in agricultural systems can occur at various levels and along many dimensions including technology adoption. The adoption of renewable energy from conventional energy sources is a socially oriented process in which individuals’ perceptions and intentions play a pivotal role. This study examines small-holder farmers pre-adoption intention towards solar energy technology in the context of sustainable agricultural and the home. The research model for this study was developed based on the theory of diffusion of innovations, the theory of planned behavior, the technology acceptance model. This research has adopted a quantitative methodology and employs descriptives and a multiple regression model to test the relationships through a survey of farmers on the island of Trinidad.
