Rain from the Dublin Bus

This thesis is an collection of original travel essays written about a two month period spent living in Dublin, Ireland. The essays investigate how people form relationships with place, how those relationships change over time, and the roles of travelers in foreign places. Along with the six essays is a critical introduction which seeks to situate the collection within the genres of travel writing and creative nonfiction. It discusses the post colonial and gender issues facing travel writers.
