DESIGNING TO MARKET HIGHER EDUCATION USING QUICKTIME STREAMING VIDEO WEBSITE

This thesis chronicles the inception to creation of a web site designed to market higher education to the new, internet-savvy generation of high school students. The web site employs Apple Computer’s® Streaming QuickTime technology which allows the viewer immediate access to 23 different department videos of real students selling various liberal arts’ college department to their peers. The QuickTime® movies tell short anecdotal stories are about the highlighted departments and the advantages of that major at the University of Cincinnati. The web graphics are designed to be visually stimulating and appeal to high school students as well as their parents. The design rationale and marketing research behind this project’s origin are also thoroughly discussed in this thesis, as well as the technology used to execute it successfully.
