A HOME PLACE: TRANSLATING THE EXPERIENCE OF HOME

GILL, REBECCA E

Abstract Details

2004, MARCH, University of Cincinnati, Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning: Architecture (Master of).
We as humans feel the strong urge to shape the world around us and to create for ourselves a sense of place. Within this process of creation is the formation of attachment to a place to we can call our own, our home. In today’s world the distance that separates the potential homeowner from those who design and build the dwelling has become too great. By allowing the dweller to become more extensively involved in the design process and having the designer assist in translating the unique individual requirements a deeper, more meaningful attachment to their home can be achieved.
