URBAN EDGE: SUBURBAN DREAMS

GREEN, ADAM J

Abstract Details

2004, MARCH, University of Cincinnati, Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning: Architecture (Master of).
Urban Edge: Suburban Dreams presents an examination of contemporary American housing preferences, with the ultimate goal of establishing more appropriate means by which the diverse population of our nation is housed. It takes into account enduring notions of family and traditon, as well as contemporary criticism, to present a set of principles meant to define the appropriate modern lifestyle from which new housing should be derived. These principles are ultimately manifested in the design of a thesis proposal, an urban housing development within the city of San Diego, CA. As the principles established are meant to be generic for broad application, the proposal exists as a case study for implementing the ideas presented within the thesis.
