CENTRAL AUDITORY PROCESSING DISORDERS: OUTCOME MEASURES

ESTELLE, DAWN N

Abstract Details

2005, MA, University of Cincinnati, Allied Health Sciences : Communication Science and Disorders.
This study compiled data from 29 families whose children were assessed for Central Auditory Processing Disorders. The objectives of this study were to develop an outcome measure that determines the usefulness of the auditory processing test battery (appointment, interpretation and recommendations), and to determine whether the parents were provided adequate explanation of the tests, the results, and the interpretation. The final objectives were to determine whether the recommendations made as a result of testing were implemented, and whether the individual (and the individual’s family) being tested benefited from the experience. It was concluded that parents had a basic understanding of the testing procedures, and the subsequent report. However parents were not sure about the recommendations that are being made and the related outcomes that can be expected.
