CVD Synthesis of Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes from Selected Catalysts

Abstract Details

2010, MS, University of Cincinnati, Engineering and Applied Science: Materials Science.
Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes were successfully synthesized employing ferritin and conventional Iron catalysts using Chemical Vapor Deposition method. Different combinations of methane and ethylene, together with process gases, were investigated during the growth process. The experiment results from Scanning Electron Microscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, and Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry indicated that acetylene performed as the primary precursor in the formation of Carbon Nanotube framework in this work.
