Spring Grove for chamber orchestra

Poteat, Angelique M.

Abstract Details

2011, M.M., University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music: Composition.
Spring Grove was inspired by my wanderings around the Spring Grove Cemetery. Never having spent much time in a cemetery previous to Spring Grove, I was struck by the surreal beauty of the place, but more so by its treatment from the visiting populace. In addition to visiting deceased loved ones, visitors would come by for its walking trails, to admire nature, and even to take family portraits among the mausoleums. Amid the bustling life, I could not deny that, as should be the case among the dead, there was a pervading sense of peace.
