Sunrisenus for Orchestra

Kim, JiYoung

Abstract Details

2013, DMA, University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music: Composition.
Sunrisenus (2013) for Orchestra evokes the mystical hush and majestic dissonance of the rising sun – and of the awakening of personal spiritual awareness. Light of many colors emerges from the darkness of night and rolls toward the blinking brightness of morning: likewise, this program music progresses from fragile consonance toward the "chaotic pattern" that the composer believes is perceptible to the humble observer at dawn. Sunrisenus invites the audience into the first movement of a projected symphony that will paint an intimate, transformative encounter of a day spent in nature.
