Student Empowerment Through Digital Storytelling

Foster, Sarah E

Abstract Details

2014, MA, University of Cincinnati, Arts and Sciences: Communication.
This thesis will document my observations, experiences and reflections of a classroom storytelling project. There are two simultaneous processes involved. First, there are middle school students who discover, find meaning in and share their story. Secondly, there are college students who assist the middle school students in the process of storytelling and they reflect on how to refine the process. This will help us to understand how to modify the process of storytelling for different circumstances (in this case, 6th grade classrooms). This thesis will also reflect on a service learning experience in a college course. My research will address how students work with community partners to identify needs, create alternatives and add value to the community.
