Abstract
Although the United States is one of the most integrated and homogeneous countries, the majority of the American populations are people of diverse nationalities. Generations of European immigrants are deprived of the opportunities to understand the historical side of their heritage. This thesis attempts to preserve the past by representing the notion of conventional existence as a wondrous spectacle and portrayal of architectural translation of empirical moments, which were embedded within significant historical events from the 1914-1945-time period. The intention of the first stage of this thesis, Design in DNA, is to adapt in proposed building gathered data, generated from decoded DNA chemical compositions, in a form of interactive analytical network responsible for representing decrypted results simultaneously as a map for the individual exploration, as well as a source of knowledge necessary to uncover the heritage of the family, introduction to second design stage memory development. The thesis devotes to defining the emotional representation of the memory shaped and categorized by crucial historical events: a sense of temporality, death, fear, faith, and hope. The proposed design will measure the effectiveness of sensory application to convert memory into a moment and therefore a personalized exploration shaped by individual pathways. This thesis concludes with a design of a museum institution with reinforced content, inspired by theaters play narrative, represented by five selected moments, illustrating critical parts of an individual story, as an element to evoke a feeling of belonging to society in comparison to past generations.
