Design For Education - Visualizing The School Drop-Out Forces in Brazil

Abstract Details

2017, MDES, University of Cincinnati, Design, Architecture, Art and Planning: Design.
Primary education is an important constant on determining economic, social and cultural progress of people and countries. Access to education is a universal right declared by the United Nations in 1948, instituted on The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, United Nations, 2015). By identifying the major drop-out factors that influence children and adolescents to abandon school in Brazil, this project intends to propose Design as a tool for Education. Presenting the complexity of the problem visually, by mapping the forces that interfere in the educational experience of the young, this project proposes relevant opportunities and insights to tackle school-abandonment. Through primary and secondary research, data was gathered and organized in order to address risk factors inside and outside school.
