This novel excerpt is about an older woman who loses a long-time friend and spends some time remembering her youth, their friendship, and the other people and events that helped shape her life. She remembers especially her mother and grandmother, her younger sister, her best friend Marian, and the other women friends who guided her through some of her best and worst experiences. Aided by her faith she is able to forgive her brother and husband for the choices they made which made her life more difficult and gain the emotional strength to embrace new thoughts and ideas.
