Charles Theodore Pachelbel: His Life and Musical Output

Abstract Details

2023, Bachelor of Arts (BA), Ohio University, Music.
Charles Theodore Pachelbel is perhaps one of the most neglected yet influential musical figures of America in the 18th century. A composer, teacher, organist, and vocal musician, Pachelbel’s influence in America spread across the East Coast from Newport, Rhode Island to Charleston, South Carolina. It is with the advent of online archives and the digitization of documents that the later years of Pachelbel’s life have come into greater focus. This study will fill in gaps in the existing literature regarding the life of Charles Pachelbel and his music.
