2D (two-dimensional) nanomaterials have drawn the attention of numerous studies and scientists over the recent years which make them favorable for next generation utilizations in consumer goods, healthcare and energy applications. The significant quest for these materials is due to the remarkable features they have which necessitate improving the mass production methods. In this study we present a new Compressible Flow Exfoliation (CFE) technique utilizing a multiphase flow of 2D layered materials suspended in a high-pressure gas passing through an expansion nozzle for 2D nano materials mass production. The new method has many benefits over the current fabrication of 2D materials techniques like liquid shear exfoliation as well as chemical intercalation and exfoliation. These benefits include being fast, ecofriendly, having high yield values and less defects in the final products. Existing methods like liquid phase exfoliation methods need almost six hours or more for the exfoliation process while the new Compressible Flow Exfoliation method is in the order of only 2-3 seconds. The other main concepts this thesis has concentrated on are the analysis of the crystal structure of materials before and after this synthesis via performing various characterization tests.
