Autonomy, Authority, and Self-Rated Health on the Occupational and Individual Levels

Zellman, Kyle Henry

Abstract Details

2011, Master of Arts, University of Akron, Sociology.
This paper examines the impact of occupational authority on self-rated health. Individual level authority and autonomy are employed as intervening variables. Using data from the 1995 Detroit Area Study, linear regression analysis was performed. Occupational authority was shown to have a non-significant impact on self-rated health. Autonomy on the individual level was shown to have a significant effect on self-rated health. Consequences and recommendations for future research are discussed.
